Moderation

The moderation tools let you keep your marketplace clean and safe. From the site management area you can close or delete any listing, review every conversation between buyers and sellers, and ban or remove users who break your rules.

Listings

The Listings page under Manage shows every listing on your marketplace — active, closed, and expired — in a paginated table.

Open it

  1. Go to Sites in the admin panel
  2. Click on your site to open its Home page
  3. In the sidebar, under Manage, click Listings

What you'll see

For each listing:

  • Thumbnail, title, and seller — with the seller's avatar as a badge
  • Price — formatted in the site's currency (see Localization)
  • Status — Active, Closed, or Expired
  • Actions menu — per-listing controls

Actions

ActionEffect
Edit listingOpens the full listing editor — see Editing a listing from the admin panel below.
CloseHides the listing from search and blocks new messages. The seller can still reopen it.
ReopenRestores a closed listing to the marketplace.
DeletePermanently removes the listing and its photos. Conversations about it are also deleted.

Deletion is permanent

Deleting a listing can't be undone. Its photos and any related conversations are removed immediately.

Editing a listing from the admin panel

Team members who can update the site can edit any listing in full — not just its metadata. From a listing's actions menu, choose Edit listing to open the editor, where you can update:

  • Title, price, description, category, and location — the same fields a seller fills in
  • Photos — add new photos, remove existing ones, and reorder the gallery
  • Metadata fields — your private listing fields, in the same screen

Changes go live the moment you save. Use it to fix a typo, correct a price, clean up a category, or swap out a photo without waiting for the seller.

Messages

The Messages page under Manage gives you read-only visibility into every conversation happening on your marketplace.

Open it

  1. Go to Sites in the admin panel
  2. Click on your site to open its Home page
  3. In the sidebar, under Manage, click Messages

The conversation list

The list is ordered by most recent activity. For each conversation, you'll see:

  • Listing — the item the conversation is about
  • Buyer and seller — avatars and names of both participants
  • Last message — a preview of the most recent message
  • Activity — when the most recent message was sent

Click any row to open the full conversation.

The conversation view

The conversation detail page renders the full thread as a timeline, showing:

  • The listing thumbnail, title, and price at the top
  • The buyer and seller with clearly labeled badges
  • Every message in chronological order, with the sender's avatar, name, and a relative timestamp

Read-only

Admins can read but not send messages. To respond, the buyer or seller must do it from the storefront.

Users

The Users page under Manage lets you moderate the accounts registered on your marketplace. For each user you can ban, unban, or delete their account.

Ban a user

Banning a user:

  • Blocks them from logging in to your marketplace
  • Deletes their listings and associated photos
  • Hides their messages from other users — banned users disappear from inbox counts and conversation lists

The account itself is retained so you have a record of who was banned. A banned user is marked with a Banned badge in the user list.

Unban a user

Unbanning a user allows them to log in and participate in the marketplace again. Previously deleted listings are not restored.

Delete a user

Deleting a user permanently removes them along with all of their data:

  • Their listings and listing photos
  • Their profile photo
  • The account itself

GDPR-friendly cleanup

Deleting a user cleans up their listings and profile photo in one action, so you can honor data-erasure requests without leaving orphaned content behind. This can't be undone.

For full details on the user lifecycle, see Users.

Tips for healthy marketplaces

  • Act early — closing a problematic listing is reversible; letting it linger damages trust
  • Ban rather than delete when you want to keep a record of bad actors
  • Delete only when you receive a clear data-erasure request or are certain the data should be gone
  • Review messages when investigating disputes — the conversation timeline gives you full context
